Who Can Become a Merchant?
At Lokala, we welcome a diverse range of businesses to join our vibrant merchant community. To maintain the integrity and quality of our marketplace, we require you to follow the criteria below:
1. Micro and Small Businesses
We encourage micro and small businesses (including private entrepreneurs) to become merchants on Lokala. Our platform is designed to support and promote local businesses, helping you reach a wider audience and grow your sales.
2. Locally Produced Products
- Manufactured in Finland: All products must be manufactured or grown in Finland.
- Minimum Domestic Content: At least half of the product’s production costs must be incurred in Finland.
By adhering to these requirements, you help us ensure that Lokala remains a trusted platform for high-quality, locally-produced goods, supporting the Finnish economy and local artisans.
How do I Become a Merchant?
Ready to grow your business? Follow these steps to get started:
Step 1: Create a Lokala Account
Begin your journey by creating a Lokala account by registering on our webpage. Follow the prompts to complete your registration. After registering, you will receive a verification email. Click on the link in the email to verify your account.
Step 2: Sign Up as a Merchant
Once your account is active, go to the Become a Merchant page and click on the ‘Register as Merchant’ button. You will need to provide your company name and company ID. Additionally, please read through the Summary of Terms of Service before registering.

After registering as a merchant, complete your merchant profile. Providing detailed information will help potential customers understand more about your business. Remember to also add pickup information so customers can collect their orders.
Step 4: Activate Payments
To facilitate smooth transactions, we use Stripe as our payment provider. Press the ‘Payment Profile’ button on your profile page, then complete the steps to set up your account. Payments will be transferred daily to your linked bank account!
Step 5: Add Products and You’re Ready to Go!
Once your payment method is set up, it’s time to add your products. Upload high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and prices for each product. Finally, check the ‘Active’ checkbox on your Shop Information page to display your shop on the map.
